This essay will be about the north and south viewpoints on the Civil War. As well as the way that these viewpoints were the cause of the Civil War. One of the North’s viewpoints is that slavery should be outlawed. The South had the opposite viewpoint, they wanted to keep slavery. In the rest of this, I will explain the other viewpoints that the north and south had that either conflicted or were similar. The northerners’ viewpoints on the Civil War were that they needed to restore the Union. Most Northerners also believed that slavery was bad and shouldn’t be allowed. They also believed that the war would be quick, thinking that the Confederacy wouldn’t be able to hold out against their greater resources. At first, the Union would not let African Americans join the army, but later in the war, they eventually started allowing African Americans enlist.
