Being alone is a feeling that nearly everyone experiences at least once in their lives. This feeling is universal, meaning that in every environment, there will be those that feel alone, called outsiders. However, their reasons for being an outsider are generally not self-inflicted. Instead, rejection is the foundation of their feeling of being an outsider. This rejection is caused by misjudgments. Therefore, outsiders are “outsiders” simply because they are misjudged. First, a common example of being an outsider is a high school student. Countless high school students feel like outsiders because they are unable to join cliques or groups of other students that they wish to be a part of. The reason for their separation from these groups is on account of being rejected out of misjudgment. Rather than being misjudged, opposers contend that outsiders are merely misunderstood. However, there is one major issue with this idea: misunderstandings actually lead to misjudgments. For example, a person’s actions could have the purest intent, but the actions are misunderstood, or taken the wrong way. Based on that, someone else will make false conclusions about that person. Depending on how those actions are interpreted, that person could be rejected, causing them to feel like an outsider. In conclusion, misjudgment is the reason there are outsiders in today’s society. People are constantly forming wrong opinions about their peers and those around them, which leads to rejection. Those facing the rejection find themselves as outsiders, unable to be accepted. These outsiders are generally looked down upon and are not included in numerous activities or events. One person’s life could be changed based on a single misjudgment, whether based on appearance or
