Swish, it’s good for you! This is an example of the excitement and pressure you can get from watching college sports, that’s why so many people love it. Schools should support their sports teams because it brings in diversity, creates more openings for scholarships, and is an attention grabber for people across the country. A player can even build up their name, image, and likeness; they can even receive an NIL check. Lastly, college sports are very popular and entertaining, this can bring a lot of money and attention to any school, even the ones that have been unheard of. For instance, the average seating of an SEC football stadium is around 80,000 give or take. Most every game, those stadiums are packed out. And thanks to tournaments like March Madness, small schools such as Grand Canyon University can receive recognition and publicity. Overall, after the diversity, scholarships, and popularity of these college sports, it would be a mistake for a college not to support their sports teams. The second perspective states that schools don’t have an official place for sports. This completely contrasts with my position. Most or every D1 college has a focus on sports teams, schools do have an official place for sports due to the athletic scholarships given out.
