When you read three different books by different authors they will have completely different themes, you would think that there would be absolutely nothing alike. But if you look closely and analyze what's really happening, there are more similarities than expected. Although there are many differences between A Doll's House, The Metamorphosis, and A Raisin in the Sun, there are similarities in their family structures of how they seem to depend on few incomes and the theme of the difficulties of trying to find themselves. A Doll's House, written by Henrik Isben, represents that theme by having Nora find out later in the play that she is a bad influence on her kids and she doesn't know who she really is. Nora felt that she was a mixture of what her father wanted her to be and what Torvald wanted her to be, she never made her own decisions and thoughts, only of others. She felt that she needed to leave to become her own person without her decisions and mistakes affecting the lives of her family. In A Raisin in the Sun, Beneatha the little sister of Walter younger had made it very clear from the beginning that she has been struggling to find herself and express who she is. She had tried finding her calling by horseback riding, then later tried learning how to play guitar. Beanetha had met Joseph Asagai when she felt separated from her heritage and wanted to get back in touch with her ethnicity. He was from Nigeria and had introduced some of his culture to Beneatha and she felt connected with the beauty of the Nigerian culture. The theme of finding yourself was not as profound in Metamorphosis as it was in the other two books.
