In Amari and the Night Brothers: Supernatural investigations, the Earth is home to both humans and the supernatural, who hide themselves from human society. Amari Peters is painted as the violent, poor, black girl in the eyes of human society and is looked down upon by other students at her private school, Jefferson Academy. She is later enrolled in the organization, Bureau of Supernatural Affairs where she attends a ceremony that is designed to identify supernatural power. She is deemed as evil for being a magician because of an infamous group of evil magicians named the Night Brothers. Ever since Amari’s older brother Quinton went missing she made it her personal mission to find him. This book conveys a message of self-discovery and overcoming barriers and blockades that you may face in life. I feel as though that The Perks of Being a Wallflower is about going through ups and downs in order to find yourself. While Amari and the Night Brother create this theme with magical powers, the Perks build and add to the theme little by little until the end of the book. For example throughout the book Charlie mentions his struggle with his mental health without knowing the truth behind it. Throughout the book he was struggling with his mental health while trying to find himself as well as like-minded people to surround himself with. Similar to Amari and the Night Brothers Charlie feels broken or disconnected from himself because of things he experienced in the past. It's also mentioned multiple times that Charlie disconnected himself from the world when he remembers about the past. At the end of the book he is working towards healing himself just like Amari fought to heal her inner self by not giving up on her brother and changing everyone's view about
