Moody Bible Church is a Pentecostal, and bible believing church, whose mission is “called to provide a biblical voice to the challenges we all encounter enroute to the finish line of life”, and the vision statement is “exist to bring glory to God through the transformation of lives.” One of the similarities that exist between Moody and Willow Creek Churches is the age of their founding fathers, and their first sets of converts. D.L. Moody was a 19-year-old teenager, who came to Chicago in the year 1856 to be a businessman. He rented a space (pews) in the local church, and brought children from the darkest and the poorest part of the city to occupy them. D.L Mood’s Sunday school experienced the same, in the year 1860. He went to meet with then then Mayor of Chicago, who permitted him to start using one of the City halls for his Sunday school meetings. When Willow Creek experienced a decrease in attendance, they conducted a survey and figured out the root cause. Some people complained that they don’t feel welcomed, as no one is showing them the love and care that they sought, no one is available to integrate them to the Willow Creek’s Community, and the survey showed the reason behind their high turnover rate. The solution was to designed activities that were tailored to suit the need of the new converts. In the case of the Moody Bible Church, the drop in the number of attendees was as a result of its constant change in its leadership. Most of their leaders could only last for few years before departing (resigning). Their resignation has nothing to do with disagreements, nor poor performance, instead, it has a lot to do with the zeal to reach the unreached, to take their saving gospel of Christ to the unreached regions in Africa, Asia, Europe, etc. The change in the attendance occurs anything time there is a new senior Pastor.
