The main characters in the movie The Wizard of Oz and the main characters in the novel Of Mice and Men, these characters share many of the same characteristics. Both the story and the movie show many similarities to the Great Depression. However The Wizard of Oz has very symbolic characters related to the Great Depression. In The Wizard of Oz the four main characters are Dorothy, the Scarecrow, the Tin Man, the Lion.
The characters and themes of both Baz Luhrmann’s ‘Midnight in Paris’ and Woody Allen’s ‘The Great Gatsby’ make not only amazing parallels of each other, but increasingly accurate interpretations of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s original novel ‘The Great Gatsby’. Both directors take Fitzgerald’s original west egg characters, and not only bring them to life, but show the true depth and impact they have on each other and their “perfect world”. In the set-up of ‘Midnight in Paris’ both characters Gil and Inez start off as a perfect couple living their best life. Allen’s ‘The Great Gatsby’ lays out Tom and Daisy as a troubled couple that puts on a façade behind wealth and integrity. In my revision of both Allen’s and Lurhmann’s interpretation of the original novel ‘The Great Gatsby’ I will make the connections of both characters and themes and show the effectiveness of the films as representations of Fitzgerald’s ‘The Great Gatsby’.

Based off what the reader knows about Crooks from chapter four, the reader can infer that he would be the kind of person to join the NAACP. The reason for this is because he believes that African Americans do not receive the same things that whites do. For my first blog post about “The Great Gatsby” I decided to write a character connection between the prince Hamlet and Jay Gatsby. I believe that these two characters connect because they are very similar to each other. Both Gatsby and Hamlet are meticulous planners, they are very ambitious and strive to reach their goals, and they both create personas to show to the outside world. The two men are extremely patient and can wait long periods of time for their plans to come to fruition.
