In To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee a black man named Tom is accused of raping a white woman. He is found guilty and ends up being killed. In The Hate You Give by Angie Thomas two sixteen-year old kids are on their way home from a party in the “hood” and are pulled over by a cop. Starr and her friend Kahlil have done nothing wrong but Kahlil ends up shot dead. Starr and the cop are the only people who really know what happened that night and everyone in the nation are dying to know the real story.
