The maps of Paris in 1851 and 1908 were created for different audiences, thus highlighted sites and monuments are different. In 1851, Paris was going through political issues of coup d’état, so the map was designed to emphasize their political and military strength. Whereas, the map of 1908 was designed for tourists visiting Paris with the emphasis on “Bon Marché” with other tourist’s attraction and key features. The two maps represented through “Bird’s eye” both emphasize the river of Seine, monumental building such as “Palais de Louvre”, and transportation routes. With transportation routes on this map, you can see the exit of the city through the border surrounding the city stressed on both maps.
