The Cold War was a series of events that was caused by the battle of Capitalism vs Communism that ranged from 1947-1953. This was all because the US and USSR believed that the countries that were left with no support after Germany's reign in World War 2 should have their political views. It took place in Cuba, Vietnam, Korea and many other countries in Europe. The creation of NATO, Cuban Missile Crisis and the Vietnam war are prime examples of why the US is to blame. The of Nato sparked the USSR to create the Warsaw Pact, and this was all a defensive reaction. The excerpt from the Atlantic Treaty states " Each will immediately take whatever action it considers necessary to restore and maintain the security of the North Atlantic are, It will, if necessary, use armed force". The USSR created the Warsaw Pact to prevent the US's NATO from overpowering them. It started because JFK discovered that Cuba was hiding nuclear missiles that were made by Russia after he sent a spy plane over to Cuba. This almost immediately caused debate in the U.S. on what they should do about or the approach they should take towards Cuba, in the end, the approach was containment in an attempt to not allow the Missiles to get any closer to the U.S.. However, in the document that explains the agreement, it says how the U.S. would eventually come to an agreement with the Soviet Union that stated if the Soviet Union took their missiles out of Cuba the United States would take theirs out of Turkey.
