What Caused the French Revolution? The French Revolution had started in 1789, this date brings on the beginning of the consequences gained from political, social, and economic issues. These issues were the major causes of the French Revolution itself. These reasons caused individuals to gain enlightening thoughts and new ideas that would bring on later conflict and even violence mostly being resulted from the economic causes. The country was almost bankrupt from earlier spending on involvement in the american revolution and large spending by King Louis XVI. Everyone left in the third estate, was beyond poor. People survived off of bread, while the price for bread made an increase. This made it difficult for families while the people among power flaunted their cash. As an example, people often blamed King Louis’s spouse, Marie Antoinette who spent most her time playing dress up with her few friends. The high taxes would later start a protest that would imprison the royal family. The queen’s behavior was a reason for french citizens to push the french revolution. In the french society, social classes were established throughout history. It was divided by the Aristocracy who were in power and wealth, then there is the non-aristocracy who were not wealthy and powerful.
