Eventually, the government gave in and declared war during the summer of 1812 which was pretty unfortunate for Britain as they were still fighting their war with France. During the early days of wars, America was severely underprepared due to the major cuts to the military and navy during Jefferson's presidency. Despite this, they still won an important battle at the Atlantic Ocean with their warship, the Constitution, which had hulls the British cannonballs could not break. Another fight was won on Lake Erie and they forced the British to retreat into Canada, where they were attacked by the Americans
The War of 1812 was a major conflict in American history which completely altered the country’s future. Based on previous wars, America gained respect from opponents as a major military power. There were many factors that led to the outbreak of the War of 1812 between the United States and Great Britain. A major factor was the seizure of American ships and the impressment of sailors by Great Britain. Essentially the impressment of sailors was the seizure of the sailors and forcing them into the British military.
22. In 1812 America and Britain went to war. Leading up to this time was a point of bloodshed, belligerent acts, and again political issues. At first the United States was not ready for combat. Although we declared war on Britain we were not equipped for such an extensive battle.
a. The War of 1812 was very big and affected many groups of people. One of the reasons why it began was because of Jefferson’s eager decisions to get rid of the Indians and their responses towards that. “Reports that the British were encouraging Tecumseh’s efforts contributed to the coming of the War of 1812.” (Foner 318) The United States and Britain didn’t get along and there were many conflicts between them some of which were related to the Indians. Jefferson wanted the Indians gone and wanted control of their land.
Hello again Morgan, I also chose to write about the War of 1812 as my discussion post as it brings interesting debatable topics to view. Throughout our reading, there are multiple reasons cited for the War of 1812, but I believe that there were a few reasons that stand out from the others. Consequently, not only was war proclaimed against Britain, but also against the Indians of the West. This begs the question, would the war have been called against Britain if the settlers had been able to move westward without Indian interference? Moreover, based on this classes reading it is highly possible that this was an excuse to evict the Indians from their lands in the West, using the British alliance as a reason to declare war.
The war of 1812 is one to remember. The war happened between the British and the Americans. This happened because the British stopped trade with the Americans due to a war between the British and the French. Another reason was because of the impressment that the British started against the American sailors. For these reasons, the war of 1812 happened.

Reasons why war had happened was because many states did not agree over the treaties that were being issued, they fussed and fought over the passing of it. There were many events that occurred, the Treaty of Ghent was passed but caused a lot of arguments, and implications grew for the American society.
The war of 1812, also called the second war of independence was during 1812 between 1815 between the Great British and the United States. Because of the war between France and British, British limited the trade of the United State. Besides, the US wanted to expand their territory. So, the war broke out. Before the war, both sides were not ready for the war.
Just 29 years after the American Revolutionary War, America and Great Britain were back to butting heads. This time it was not over the matter of independence, but over a cluster of reasons. Little by little, the British were starting to disturb the Americans. These reasons included British attempts to restrict U.S. trade, the Royal Navy’s impressment of American seamen and the arming of Native Americans. During the war, the Canadians sided with the British while the indians chose to fight on both sides.
One of the main causes of the War of 1812 was the violations of shipping rights by the British. British fleets started harassing American ships and taking British American citizen’s prisoners to fill their own naval vessels. In an attempt to help rectify restrictions of the embargo that had been originally set by Thomas Jefferson when he was president between Britain and France; President Madison spoke with Napoleon and he said that he would remove his decrees if the British did as well. The British refused and President Madison was left without a choice and asked Congress to declare war on Britain. During this time Britain was also encouraging the Native American Indians to cause conflicts with American settlers.

War was declared against Great Britain mainly because of their refusal to stop seizing American vessels all this was brought on by the embargo act that was put in place by Jefferson to force warring European nations to quit violating American rights. As a young republic, we did have the diplomatic leverage was not what President Madison thought it was, which resulted in international humiliation.

The main war for territory occurred a few decades later, under President James K. Polk. Polk, who was known as the Manifest Destiny President, wanted to expand the country as much as possible.
