“ What challenges and/or difficulties did the tsarist government of russia face and why did the russian citizens want to end the Tsar's Autocratic government?” Is the question I will be discussing within this Argumentative Essay about the Russian revolution of the year 1917.
The Russian revolution was ongoing during the end of World War I and was the cause of one of the first countries that replaced its monarch state and began a Communist state. Tsar Nicholas II was seen as an incompetent and irresponsible leader who didn’t understand how to rule a country, this was often shown when he had to make any rash or important decisions. Nevertheless he still cared a lot about his family, which was one of the reasons for the tsar to have met the monk Grigori Rasputin. Rasputin was well known for his “ability” to both see into the future and heal all kinds of wounds. Due to the fact that Rasputin was healing Alexei, the heir to being the next tsar's hemophilia, he had become a divisive figure in the Russian court and it was not soon after that he had fallen in love with the Tsarina, the Tsar’s wife. The main reason for the long awaited regime change was due to the hundreds of years of oppression of the lower classes of the Tsarist regime. For instance, an example of this was the fact that for centuries the tsar’s taxed the produce of peasant farmers to earn money to preserve his regime, and since the burden of all these taxes was so high multiple periodic riots were on the outbreak. To further this Argument another reason the citizens wanted to end the Tsar’s government was because of Tsar Nicholas II’s failures within the battle of World War I. Not only was the Tsar, Nicholas II incompetent to the extent he couldn’t manage to rule over his country effectively, he also made further poor decisions when it came to working within the government that slowly led to worsening relations with the government and increased deprivation for civilians and soldiers alike. This caused men to go off to wars with no ammunition, hardly any food, rags for clothes and if they were lucky somewhat intact shoes.
