PRECIS “What lips My Lips Have Kissed, And Where, And Why” The sonnet "What Lips My Lips Have Kissed, And Where, And Why" was composed only five years after the First World War when enormous number of young fellows passed on. The poetess Edna St. Vincent Millay is in her mid-30's and she is not lamenting the past, she is really lamenting, that her young age has passed. Profound under her heart, holds harming recollections of the past and gravely needs her childhood. The poetess likewise talks about the numerous relationships which have arrived at an end in light of the passing of the officers in the First World War. Misfortune and change are the two noteworthy subjects around which the lyric revolves around. Despite the fact that the subject of misfortune is regular in the entire ballad it is more noticeable in the last few lines of the sonnet. She is similar to a desolate tree remaining in the nippy winter avenues on the grounds that the most wonderful feathered creatures in her branches are lost. She has lost the affection for her life and her life is presently (with no point or reason). She is alive just by conceding/perceiving/reacting to the association with the spirit of her cherished one in his (not being there; not being available)
