The tale of Frankenstein follows the life of Victor Frankenstein, a scientist, and student at the University of Ingolstadt, who creates a monster that proceeds to terrorize Victor until the day he dies. Due to the fact that the monster is rejected by his creator and shun out of society the monster tries to avenge himself by killing all of Victors beloved ones. The monster decides to stop with his violent ways and go off to die only when Victor himself dies on a ship in the Arctic. I believe that one of the questions that arose in the novel is “What did Frankenstein learn from the De Lacy family that he spent time observing?” To answer this question, I am convinced that Frankenstein not only learned how to speak and understand words, but also recognize emotions, get a basic understanding of a family relationship and identify love.” “I found that these people possessed a method of communicating their experience and feelings to one another by articulate sounds” …show more content…

“The young woman arranged the cottage and prepared the food; and the youth departed after the first meal” (91). This quote is an example of how the monster recognizes how the woman has a particular job within the household. “The young man was constantly employed out of the doors, and the girl in various laborious occupations within” (91).What the monster is observing is the classical devision of labor amongst family, the women work in the house, while the man of the family earns the income. The monster is also able to observe how closely knit this family is and this teaches him about the love within a family. This can be seen in: “Nothing could exceed the love and respect which the younger cottagers exhibited towards their vulnerable companion. They performed towards him every little office of affection and duty with gentleness; and he rewarded them by his benevolent smiles”
