How did Stanislavski Contribute to the Development of Realism in the Theatre? The Stanislavski System is the use of real emotion in acting. It was made and used by Constantin Stanislavski in 1911. Realism is the: “Interest in or concern for the actual or real, as distinguished from the abstract, speculative, etc.”. (Dictionary.com) This is the type of acting method he prefers and believes in. Stanislavski was born into a very wealthy family. His real name is Constantin Sergeyevich Alexeyev and Stanislavski was a stage name he used to keep the acting from his parents. The things you do to achieve your super-objective is by completing units and objectives. A unit is the activity that you are doing right now. For you, that will be reading this essay and possibly something else like listening to music. An objective is achieved once you have accomplished something else that leads up to the super-objective: such as you finishing marking this essay. The super-objective for you will be that you get all the marks in on time for our reports or to possibly sit down and watch TV after marking this one essay. To get to the super-objective you must first have a unit you are active in, accomplishing an objective and then reaching your super-objective, which is the main goal or reason for starting in the first place. This can help your acting by being in control. You are certain of what you’re character is doing, what they are going to do and what they have set out to accomplish. This gives the story a structure and helps you to visualize the events that must happen. It also shows me how the character might feel: guilty, sad, depressed or angry. I would have to convey all these emotions accurately and convincingly to the audience and the whit if questions can help me to think about it more and elaborate on the topic of my brother dying in a boating accident, which is very powerful and emotional. Some people might have different reactions to this if their relationship isn’t a good one, but I have to put myself in my characters shoes to see what type of response they have to the incident to fully act it
