The penny has been used in many day to day scenarios and is recognized throughout history and even dates back to the Frankish Empire. However, many people see the penny as useless and not cost-effective. The reasoning behind this thinking is that the penny cost more to produce than its actual value, and they take up too much space and time. The cost of pennies is causing a lot of unwanted debt due to pricing for the materials.

In this week’s lab we had to determine the density of a quarter, penny, and dime. My question was “How does is each coin?” Density is the amount of mass in an object. To find the density of each coin in this lab, we used a triple beam balance to find each coin’s mass and a graduated cylinder to find their volumes. With all this information, I can now form a hypothesis.
In Colonial Williamsburg there are many significant architectures. Buildings such as the Bruton Parish Church, Governor’s Palace, the Capitol, and the Magazine all had a big contribution in Virginia's history. Each building deserves a commemorative coin, but only one can be selected. By studying all the four structures, the one most deserving of a commemorative coin is the Magazine. During the Colonial times, the Magazine had many significant effects.
700 million dollars isn 't worth the one cent piece, we could be using this money on charity or something else important. Though the penny has been part of the U.S for more than a hundred years, it should not be minted anymore because of the high production cost and other countries such as canada don 't even bother using them at all. People argue that the penny should stay because of its long time and history with the US, but what they don 't know is that the penny cost more than 2.4 cents per penny. “The US Mints budget in 2010 was 27.4 million dollars in penny production”(source 1). The time wasted counting money could add up to over 700 million dollars, this money could be spent on something important.
Kary Cabrera, Supernova Preserving the Penny The one-cent coin, also known as the penny, has been seen as a nuisance by many throughout the years. Many postulate that the penny will no longer be minted, meaning produced, within a few years. However, the solution seems to be controversial as others see the penny as an important part of the United States history. The penny should be preserved for the following reasons that will be divulged in this essay.
The complete waste of time and money spent producing these pennies just to be forgotten in the couch cushions is astounding. If every penny is 1.8 cents to produce than the government is giving away 800 million USD every single year. The same article says, “...10 million new useless items punched out by government workers who could be more usefully employed tracking counterfeiters.” In other words, the government isn’t only wasting money on penny production but, also a working staff. U.S. currency could be more protected if it wasn’t for the pesky penny.
The Grading System: Completely Necessary Grades are an important part of the school system. Grades set the extraordinary students apart from the ordinary ones. In Jerry Farber’s essay, “A Young Person’s Guide to the Grading System,” he argues that grades are the only motivation students have in school. Farber even calls it “phony motivation.” He argues that students do not actually learn anything.
The purpose of this lab was to change pennies from copper to silver to gold, like alchemists have attempted to do in history. Through the data and observations gathered throughout this experiment, it can be concluded that the pennies were not changed into a different element. For example, the density of the penny from 2005; which was the penny that was experimented on to see whether or not it could turn into silver; was 4.62 g/cm3 before the experiment and 4.89 g/cm3 by the end of the experiment. If this copper penny really would have turned into silver, then the density of the penny would be 10.49 g/cm3; which is the density of silver; by the end of the experiment. The penny may have turned silver in color, but this was only because it was plated in the zinc that was added to the beaker of water in the experiment.
The penny in today’s economy has become useless, yet the government still produces 4.3 billion of them per year, wasting more than 100 million dollars, according to John Fund in his article “Penny Anti”. Fund writes, “Because the penny costs more than a cent to produce, the Treasury loses more than $100 million per year on the coin’s production. Fund also writes that the penny could be costing each American citizen personally, not just the government. “ ‘Pennies are costing each of us nearly $50 a year given the average wage per hour’ ”
In Kurt Wiesenfeld’s article “Making the Grade”, he address the issue that students want a higher grade than they deserve. He goes on to prove this be by giving examples of previous students that he has had and what can happen when students get the grades that they want and not what they deserve. In Wiesenfeld’s article he states that about ten percent of students that take his class do not care about their grades until final grades are over. “You might groan and moan, but you accepted it as the outcome of your efforts or lack thereof,” Wiesenfeld stated.

In the past, lots of people have been mistreated for reasoning they can not control. One of these types of people is disabled people, primarily mentally disabled people. In past years people with mental disabilities were sometimes even seen as demons. This is common because of some beliefs, however closer to present day people with disabilities are left out. This is why Eunice Shriver 's started the Special Olympics.

This deals with a customers’ perception that a product or service they are buying provides them with a higher value than a competitor. Superior quality can be broken down into two kinds of attributes: quality as excellence and quality as reliability. A customers’ perspective of quality as excellence would be that they want a product or service that provides features and a level of service that has no comparison. With regard to quality as excellence, if customers perceive that the products design, features, and functions are better than everyone else, then they would be more likely to buy their product. Higher quality products allow for a higher sense of value provided to the customer.
