Hard Love Alfred Chester is an American writer mainly known for his novels and books he’s written. His book “Head Of a Sad Angel” was published on August 1, 1990 featuring many short stories such as “The Cradle Song”. In “The Cradle Song” Chester portrays a young teenage girl named Dolly who faced many challenges in her relationship with her boyfriend Larry. Chester uses organic and kinesthetic imagery, situational irony, and descriptive words to create a dramatic story that emphasizes the characters love for each other. This quote illustrates organic imagery because it makes the readers sense that Dolly didn’t want to kill her son but she thinks that she has no other choice but to take his life away. She decided to kill her son to save her relationship with Larry. This qupte also made the readers feel upset at Dolly and sad for her newborn. Dolly decided to kill her son that she had with Larry because she wanted to stay true to Larry’s commitment of being clean before they were married. Dolly explained that when she killed her son “the bathroom wasn’t alive anymore” which shows the auidence that Dolly felt bad about taking her son’s life. She felt in that in her heart she lost something that was alive and apart of her. Which is true because she had a new life growing on the inside of her body. Unlike Organic imagery, Kinesthetic imagery “deals with the movement or actions of objects or people” (Udmey Blog).
