Dan Lawler Fall – 2015 Eric Foner, the author of our textbook, “Give Me Liberty!” calls the Industrial Revolution, urbanization and accompanying economic expansion of American society in the early nineteenth century a “market revolution”. There are many significant changes and developments that make up this revolution, a few of them being the creation of canals, steamboats, roads and the cotton gin. Foner also describes how the revolution affected differently the north and the south.
Patriots pen “What does freedom mean to me” What freedom means to me might be more than you think it means to you. There’s freedom were your parent’s will let you go out and hang with friend all night and run the streets at twelve at night and get the cops called on you and there’s a kind where you get released from slavery or chores,or homework. When most people think of freedom that’s what they think of that, but when other people think of it I think of war, slavery, and kidnaped kids. Why I think it’s these reasons is because I have family that has been in a war. That,s why I think of war, slavery, kidnappings, poverty, and probably worst then that
By definition the phrase liberty and justice for all represents the idea that each citizen is equal under the law. As Americans, citizens are guaranteed the right to vote; the right to be free; as well as the right to equality, regardless of their race, sex, or religion. The growth in America’s history proves that the American flag and Pledge of Allegiance have promoted liberty and justice for everyone. It is the drastic change from times such as the Colonial era; when women and enslaved African Americans were seen as inferior to white men, to where the nation is now; having had an African American president as well as a woman nominee for a presidential election, that expresses how America as a whole has managed to eliminate all these struggles today. It is undeniable that the United States has lived up to that promise as well as the claim, in our Pledge of Allegiance, that the American flag represents “...liberty and justice for all”
Freedom During the American Revolution During the American Revolution of 1754 - 1820, the citizen of the United States believed that freedom meant the rights to fight for their opinion and beliefs. Freedom meant you have the freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom of the press, assembly, and to petition the government, which will be declared and written in the first amendment of the bill of rights. The citizen of the United States during the American Revolution era want to make their own rules and govern themselves. These people are tired of being governed by other people from England.
You were born with life liberty and the pursuit of happiness. The document states “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or abridging the freedom of speech or the press or the right of the people peaceably to assemble”... What this means is that you have the right t to say what you want and you have the right to choose your religion and the right to peaceful protest. “ In all criminal prosecutions the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury of the state and district where in the crime shall have been committed”. This means whatever crime you committed you still have the right to a speedy public trial These two laws are very important, without them it wouldn't be a fair to any citizen.
Recent claims have been made by an anti-abortion group, The Center for Medical Progress, that the women’s health organization Planned Parenthood harvests and sells fetal organs from the abortions they perform. This has led to overwhelming responses against Planned Parenthood, including a very large push to defund the organization. In fact, bills have been introduced or passed in the House of Representatives or the Senate that would prevent Planned Parenthood from receiving federal funds. Even though this movement is gaining quick response, the accusations against Planned Parenthood are unsupported and biased. These attacks are unjust and are less about the possible corruption of the organization than about stopping their abortion services.
Are My Freedoms Guaranteed by the Constitution of America? As a young man of sixteen years old, I am aware that in less than two years I will be required to register with Selective Services. I will also be old enough to choose to vote or not, use tobacco, join the military and many added freedoms and obligations that come with adulthood. A freedom I currently enjoy and have my entire life is the freedom to believe what I choose about God, the Holy Bible, to select the religion of my choice, and whether to live by the guidelines found in the pages of the Bible or not.

Where liberty dwells there is my country”- benjamin franklin in america we all dont relize but america is one of the places with most liberty but would we be able to live without our liberty could liberty stand without virtue. I belive a country can not subsist without liberty nor liberty without virtue because people would choose to leave and search for liberty, also a country cannot be withjout liberty since it would be to busy dealing with problems and disagreements. A country would not subsist without liberty since many would be unhappy and choose to another place to go to. For example in “This is not who we are” by Naomi Shinab it said “ I raised the volume, our car fills with grace.
Two Concepts of Liberty Summary of the essay: In this essay, the famous political theorist Isaiah Berlin tries to differentiate between the notions of positive liberty and negative liberty. Berlin briefly discusses the meaning of the word ‘freedom’. He says that a person is said to free when no man or body of men interferes with his activity. He makes reference to many philosophers in the essay, but there is more emphasis on the thoughts of J. S. Mill and Rousseau, the former being a firm advocate of negative liberty while the latter believes strongly in the ideals of positive liberty.
