Love can affect people in ways not thought possible. It can drive a person to do extreme acts in a pursuit to achieve someone’s heart. James Gatz, unlike others, had a strong passion for Daisy, and this dedication towards her helped motivate him to become the “Great” man he is. Gatsby’s love for Daisy symbolizes a deeper meaning, Daisy in a way controls Gatsby’s whole life, from being the reason for his birth to being the reason for his death, every decision made by Gatsby is for the sole purpose to please Daisy. Like how World War One was originally known as The Great War because no one could believe another war could surpass it, The Great Gatsby, by F. As many know, Jay Gatsby is a very wealthy figure in the West Egg of New York. Gatsby was not always rich, being the son of farmers, he did not grow up in the lush lifestyle he is living now. His love and aspiration for Daisy was a constant motivation for him to become the rich and successful man that she wanted. He even “bought that house so that Daisy would be just across the bay" (Fitzgerald 78). This house was a step in the direction to capture Daisy’s attention. All of his wealth was an outcome of the love he could never achieve before, therefore “He wants [Daisy] to see his house...and [Nick’s] house is right next door” (79). Nick was the missing connection between Daisy and Gatsby, and finally a way for Gatsby to show Daisy that he is the new man that she wished for.
