Winston and Julia sticking together is the most important thing because it shows who they are. They are in love with each other and they are the only thing either of them has going for them because of the life they live. If they did betray each other then they both would go down for the crimes they committed and so does anyone else they know that knows about there crimes. Not confessing is also important because it shows that they are human and care for each other. "If you feel that staying human is worth while, even when it can't have any results whatever, you've beaten them" (Orwell 166). Most citizens of Oceania want to take the test too because they get more "protection" and surveillance on them and there family. George Orwell wrote on page 192 "...it is often necessary for a member of the Inner Party to know that this or that item of war news is untruthful, and he may often be aware that the entire was is spurious and is either not happening or is being waged...". Inner party members get to know more about the secrets that go on with the Big Brother. A lot of people like to have that power in their hands. Inner Party member are also the second highest group in the Oceania community. The highest ranking in the Big a Brother, so they Inner Party is the second highest ranked group. This requires a lot of responsibility and exceptions on your behalf. Children take the test to show that they are smart and can't give any excuses if they don't get it. "Nor is there any racial discrimination, or marked domination of one province by another" (Orwell 208), stating that the party acceptance is based off of your intelligence not your race so parents and children can brag about there kids. It is a huge honor to be selected for the Inner Party. Someone would want to take the test because if they get they have higher ranking than everyone, more knowledge, and even bragging
