Light has a meaning of life, brightness and lightens up a path usually at the beginning or end of a path or something. Gatsby and Daisy’s relationship represents the beginnings and endings of a relationship Gatsby longs for the light, the sense of an idea that is Daisy. He reminisces on the time they knew each other, the initial connection and chemistry that was once alive. Gatsby starts low, he didn't come from a background of old money like many people around him, however, he worked his way to the top to achieve his American Dream of being wealthy and getting the girl of his dreams that he once lost, Daisy.
