Dream, noun, a cherished aspiration, ambition, or ideal. In the great gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald, the title character Jay Gatsby is dreaming about a reunion with the love of his life. Throughout the story the Green Light at the end of his dream girl’s dock becomes a recurring symbol for his dream of getting her back.

In the first appearance of the green light, Nick C. The narrator of this story catches Jay Gatsby at the end of his dock after his party. Nick questions himself if that really is gatsby. Of course Nick thought he would be some rich old guy. But he Nick said “he stretched out his arms toward the dark water in a curious way, and as far as i was from him, I could’ve swore he was trembling”.
