Symbolism materializes an ideas, emotions, and events in the process creating a deeper meaning. F.Scott Fitzgerald uses important symbolism in his novel The Great Gatsby to give hidden content and deep meanings to the novel. Some of the more important symbols are the green light, the car, and the billboard because they conclude that symbolism play a role in life.
The green light is an important symbol which pieces together the essential theme in the novel. The light symbolizes Gatsby’s dream for the future. It is noted that Daisy’s green light has several characteristics that give it symbolic meanings; one is the distance between Gatsby and the light; the distance gives the effect that Daisy is in reach of Gatsby, but he is unable to fully reach her foreshadows that even though Daisy loves Gatsby she is too far gone. The second characteristic is the color of the light green is normally encountered with the feeling of greed and money, and Gatsby symbolizes this as how to win Daisy. Many other characteristics give the green light a greater representation; The american dream moreover what strived for in life. This symbol shows that everyone has their green light something which represents their goal their future.

The car's color screams symbolism; gold represents wealth, high class, and power. The fact that Gatsby owns this car gives a bit of insight on who he is, but the symbolism drives deeper than the color. The events that occur because of the vehicle represent a whole other meaning. The car is tarnished. Blood has been spilled from the gold. Wealth has the ability to demolish anything it touches. The car is an important symbol because it has a cultural significance for the meaning that with power and wealth come responsibilities. Life is filled with symbolism in order to understand the world
