White is a color that stands for beauty, innocence, and purity. In the book, The way society's views are significantly influenced by color. This is because the author uses symbolism of the color white to differentiate between social classes. One of the author's main characters who wasn't considered from the East Egg,was named Gatsby. He served in World War 1 and now is trying to get back with Daisy Buchanan even though she is married to Tom. Gatsby has bought a mansion in the West Egg across from Tom and Daisy Buchman’s house with the help of illegal business deals. She wears white outfits quite regularly. She was the “ most popular of all the young girls in Louisville. She dressed in white, and had a little white roadster” (Fitzgerald 47). This represents the innocence of her young personality. White covers her home. White is a color that represents elegance, flawless purity, and nobility. The statement from Fitzgerald describes how even her surroundings are just pure and full of beauty, "The windows were ajar and sparkling white against the green grass beyond” (Fitzgerald 5). The Buchanan’s welcome Nick to eat at their expensive home when he first arrives in New York. When he finally sees Daisy and Jordan, he thinks of them as being pure, and "their dresses were rippling and fluttering as if they had been blown back in after a short flight around the houser” (Fitzgerald 5). Jordan and Daisy both have wealthy backgrounds and can afford expensive clothes. Money is why Daisy is staying in the marriage with Tom because without living in a rich neighborhood, Daisy doesn’t know how her life is going to be. Daisy stays with Tom because he gives her things that Gatsby can't. The marriage between Tom and Daisy is shallow and greedy, she knows that Tom is having an affair so she gets tired of him and does the same thing and has an affair with Gatsby while shes married.
