He at the start of the story is stripped of everything that is his culture; his hair, his clothing and most importantly his language. He goes throughout the story with struggles, at first getting beaten for even speaking his native tongue, to being a national code talker. He goes through many changes during the war. From being a quiet, young boy, following the rules and never overspoken, to a tough man who takes pride in his language and culture. He goes through the war with no real friends, afraid that they might end up dying.
Working at the factory provides Lyddie with a great deal of money, more than she has ever got before. If Lyddie had not gone to the factory she would have no money left. Before Lyddie worked at the factory she had a different job. She was a house maid and got paid little to no income at all, then when she went to the factory all of that changed. “ The pay reflected her proficiency, she was making almost $2.50 a week…” ( page 86 ).

Vladek in present-day is a very strange man, he does things like counting his pills and returning opened boxes of cereal to the grocery store expecting a refund. His traits frustrate Art and they clash often, even though that the habits that Art considers to be strange might have been the habits that kept Vladek alive.
Folk tales have been used again and again to continue the traditions from one generation to the next. In “Snow White”, the Brothers Grimm, show the power and struggle of the characters, and the differences between the lower-class and the upper-class. In “Snow White” Grimm and Grimm illustrate that the lower-class is struggling for a better life, even if they are always working and not having an equal economic situation. This is shown through the seven little dwarfs when they always work, but, unfortunately, the higher social class did not care about them. Using a lens of Marxist Literary Theory, I am going to critique the political power and economic struggle between the upper and the lower class in “Snow White”.
