1. Describe how the following entities can influence public managers and public organizations. What formal and informal authority do they have that enables them to exert such influence?
a. Public opinion According to the reading, there are two types of mass opinion which are attitudes towards the government officials and attitudes toward particular policies and agencies. Chief executivethe legislative branch of government is the most powerful branch with the strongest political power and influence on agencies. However these bodies of influence are consider very complex and may have somewhat a negative influence.
f. The courts”Some expert’s powerful controls over the public bureaucracy, while others see them as ineffectual”. The courts are required to operate under the due process of law of the constitution.
g. Other agencies and other levels of government other agencies include public organization that work together in trying to establish an understanding. These both organization can sometimes agree or disagree with one another. The often work on the financial aspect concerning grants that may require for both agencies to work together. The often associate with a higher level authority which may be the federal government.
h. The public policy process According to Rainey, the policymaking and policy implementation process are an extremely important aspect of the environment of public management and public organization (Rainey, 2014).
