Every human being on earth deserves to be treated with dignity and respect and we should all be treated equally. Unfortunately, Black people do not have the privilege of white people. Throughout the years many innocent people were killed and arrested for being people of color. For example, an unarmed black person can get killed by a white cop who is armed. The white-armed cop can get away with it easily for having a white police privilege. That is exactly what happened to Khalil Harris in The Hate U give. The story provides a detailed explanation of the justice that black people were fighting for throughout their history, by protesting and demanding justice to get their voice heard. First, by reblogging on Tumblr. Starr created a blog called the Khalil I Know, where she blogs about Khalil’s childhood photos and reblog people’s artwork of Khalil. Starr said “I have started a new blog called- The Khalil I used to know. It doesn't have my name, Just pictures of Khalil” ( Thomas, 204). These posts received a lot of attention and likes which motivated Starr to post more and to raise awareness of Khalil’s death. Second, Attending the grand jury. Starr was hesitant to attend the court and get known as the witness, but after lots of inner fights, she decided to attend the grand jury. Starr said, “I straighten up and allow the tiny brave part of me to speak” (Thomas, 334). Last but not least, the protest. Protesting after the decision was made, was the bravest thing Starr did in the story. She was filled with anger after the decision was made and the only option left was to use her voice as a weapon to fight for Khalil's justice. During the protest, Starr said, “ 'I’m sick of this! Just like y'all think of us as bad because of some people, we think the same about ya'll. Until you give us a reason to think otherwise , we'll keep protesting' ”(Thomas, 412).
