‘What happened to Monday’ is a 2018 Netflix film created by Tommy Wirkola. ‘What Happened To Monday’ is based on the fact that the world has become over-populated so the government was forced to establish a One-Child Policy. However, seven identical sisters owit this policy by taking on one persona. Each sister was named after each day of the week and was only allowed to leave their apartment on the day that matched their name. The system that the seven identical twins had in place worked flawlessly; that is until Monday betrayed her sisters and didn’t return home(Tallerico 2017). Before watching this film, I researched for reviews and found several of them interesting. Altogether many thought the Netflix film was a brilliant idea; however, they also felt as if the movie had a lack of distinct villain and style. Though the film was thought to be a good idea, many felt as if the movie lacked a distinct villain. Usually, a distinct villain shows a “distinct in some way from other, whether it be some action in the moment that we meet them, that marks them out as different(The Villain Checklist: Distinct 2017).” The movie was unclear about who was the actual distinct villain. “What Happened To Monday is kind of boring when it comes to style. There’s an awesome fight scene early on when the women are first tracked down by their enemies that feature stunt work similar to Wirkula’s other films and allows Repace to show off the physical abilities as an action star she’s displayed before. But there’s a shocking amount of sitting around and talking in this movie about seven sisters named after days of the week.
