On Monday 16th of May 2016 I went to the Gielgud theatre as a class to watch the play; A Curious Incident Of Dog In The Night-Time. The play is about a boy named Christopher who was in the autistic end of the spectrum and this meant that he was really good at one thing, in his case, Maths, however he was not a social character in the sense that he could not communicate with other people in the proper manner and also that he is unable confined to his own space and only goes to places he regularly visits. He cannot fully understand how people behave in this way and immediately wants to find out. As he is reading the letters actors in the background use physical theatre to hold letters up and float them around his face, and helped create an illusion that they were moving when actually they were being held. Furthermore, the physical theatre displayed to the audience what Christopher was seeing in his head as he was reading all the letters, so allowed the audience to feel part of him and what he is thinking. The lighting in the scene focuses on the protagonist in the play, who is Christopher, as he is in the foreground and therefore hides the actors in the background

Also, the set had a maths paper wallpaper this showed that Christopher was into his maths and also again portrayed the fact that Christopher is autistic and his actions are different to what someone who isn’t autistic. The lighting was effective as it gave different angles and view points to the audience, also the lighting introduced a new and innovative way of making the set feel alive and also helped the actors develop their character more using the lighting for their emotions or
