The novel “Animal Farm” is a fairy story that was published in 1946 by the author George Orwell. The book was written during World War 2, this was a dark time in our past. The book “Animal Farm” is almost a satire of the communist party during the war. This tale takes place on a ranch in England named Manor Farm. It all starts when the old boar named Old Major calls a meeting for all the animals of the farm to gather in the old barn one night. Once all the animals were there Major began his discussion. He spoke of a world where all animals would be free of the horrors of humans. This is how the revolution of the beasts began.

Old Major dies a couple days after his great speech but his ideas live on. This leads the animals to overthrow Mr. Jones the farmer. The animals were so happy with their own farm that they changed the name from Manor Farm to Animal Farm. The pigs were the smartest animals on the farm so they naturally became the leaders. This is much like the government in Animal farm that is run by the pigs. The pigs told all animals that they were free from humans and that there work would go to the good of all animals, and that if they didn’t work hard then they were considered traitors to the farm. This was how the pigs were able to get the animals working hard. All the animals were treated the same except the pigs themselves who took advantage of everyone else’s hard work. When other animals questioned the pigs about the special treatment they received the pigs simply explained that they needed the extra privileges so that they could continue to be great leaders.
