Slide One: Introduction In an attempt to reduce violent criminal behavior in Massachusetts, the program I am suggesting will introduce preventative measures against violence into elementary and middle schools. Within the overall city of Boston, juvenile gun arrests increased 83% in 2022. Additionally, within Boston Public Schools, the number of incidents involving weapons increased 44% between 2022 and 2023. These statistics represent a need for youth intervention in the state of Massachusetts. This program is referred to as “Violence Free Futures”, and it will provide community outreach programs to reduce the amount of juvenile crime.
