In the prologue, Chaucer describes the Knight as illustrious, gentle, humble, perfect, and very wise. The Knight obtained fame through many adventures and battles. He fought in fifteen mortal battles and battled for Christianity against the heathen in Turkey. As a knight, he followed the chivalric code consisting of truth, honor, bravery, freedom, and courtesy.
