If one saw Elizabeth Ostler walking down the street they would describe her as cheerful. What other may say would be that she has big happy blue eyes and long brown hair. Her smile can warm the air around her. She walks with a bounce in her step and has a laugh that could make the hardest of souls’ smile. To a stranger she may give the appearance of a joyful and peaceful life. The stranger would never guess the trials Elizabeth has had to overcome. Elizabeth Ostler currently attends BYU-Idaho. She has grown up in Dillon Montana for the majority of her life. Elizabeth was born on May 6, 1997 to two loving parents Jenifer and RJ Ostler. Elizabeth has had to overcome anxiety. Elizabeth described how anxiety affects her, “Anxiety makes me feel like nauseous and like my chest is constricting. I have learned techniques to calm my body”. This has had a major impact on her life. At first it restricted everything she did. Elizabeth has explained how she has coped with living with anxiety, “I have learned to push through. It is a part of my body and I have to learn to just do what I need to do. It helps me know that there is stuff in life we have to do and we need to do it even if we don’t want to. For example, somedays I want to stay in bed. I learn that I need to push through and get up. Service helps me overcome this feeling. When I get out of bed I feel better after and that motivates me for the next time my anxiety hits”. This is even more proof that Elizabeth is a walking testimony of what perseverance can do.
