In the emotional and relatable piece of literature ‘Two Kinds’ by Amy Tan, the narrators undergo a dramatic revelation of emotion and begin to question the relation between them, leading to a heartfelt conclusion. This piece leaves anyone who reads it questioning their own perception of love. Throughout the story, Jing-mei, an American girl born to Chinese immigrants comes to a life altering conclusion regarding the conflict of becoming a prodigy, hindering the love between them both. A dramatic discrepancy in the cultures of Jing-mei and her mother lead to the main narrator feeling as if she is in two different worlds, one to support herself, and another to support her mother's wishes.
