Looking For X “Looking for X” written by Deborah Ellis, is a novel about a young 11 year old girl, named Khyber, living with her mother and 2 younger autistic brothers. They live in a poor area, Regent Park, in Toronto Ontario. Khyber had gotten into trouble, and is now going on a hunt looking for X, a mysterious older lady that Khyber had befriended, to clear her named and prove that she is innocent. I believe that the author’s message is that “Life can’t ever be all bad or all good. Khyber adores her brothers and loves them very much.Khyber starts to think that her mother doesn't love or care for the twins and is just giving them up. This causes Tammy and Khyber to have a fight (Pg.49-53) But in the end of the book Khyber understands that they will benefit by being in a home, and ends up moving closer to the home so they can visit them. (Near the end of the book) This shows how it got bad for her and the in the end it went back to the middle, neutral. Everything coming back to the middle is like a cycle.
