Napoleon is viewed in many different ways between different people. Many ask themselves if he was a villain or a hero, was he beneficial for the people, and did he cause the downfall of France. When you ask yourself these questions, you will come up with your own answer but many others will disagree with you. Napoleon is a true villain and despite the fact that he was a good leader for the military because he caused more negative than positive things to happen to France. The first problem he caused was becoming a dictator, the second was making many surrounding countries turn against him and lastly, he didn’t care about his people like a leader should. Along with being self absorbed, Napoleon was a liar. From the quotes by Napoleon we see that he thinks you should say/do whatever the other person wants to hear so you can get what you want, no matter if it's the right thing to do. “The surest way to remain poor is to be an honest man” (Napoleon Bonaparte) “If you wish to be a success in the world, promise everything, deliver nothing.” (Napoleon Bonaparte). Napoleon tells us in those quotes that he does what’s best for him and not for the people he is ruling over. If you were promised all of these amazing things by someone you thought was a hero and never got any of those things you would be pretty upset about it. If you think about it, many of those upset countries might think that they are getting something from Napoleon but he lies and when they find out he lied to them they will turn against him and if a country turns against your country, who do you send to fight? The answer is the men of your country. Napoleon killed off so many people simply by not being a good man. There was a battle that Napoleon was leading when he just became tired of fighting with the other side, so he decided to throw his men in large groups into the enemy lines even though he knew his men would suffer and almost all of them would die. Napoleon didn’t care about the families of the men he killed, as long as he stayed in power and got everything he wanted.
