Okonkwo’s story In the beginning okonkwo was very well known throughout his tribe and his village.But it all come down to something that will change his world and the tribes forever.Something so bad that none of you would have thought was coming. Okonkwo started out in the novel as a well respected person but when the british came that all changed.It affected how okonkwo thought,felt,and acted as a person.Okonkwo got to the point were he committed suicide because he couldent handle his lack of power and respect when he returned to his village.He also thought he was beginning to become just like his father who was not respected in his village either. We see evidence from the text when it says after the seven years he was banned from his tribe he returned and there was somebody that had already taken his spot. The evidence supports my claim because it shows that they didn’t respect him because if they did they wouldn’t of had somebody already in his spot after he left. It also shows the lack of power because he couldn’t take his rightful spot back he couldn’t handle what the people were saying to him so he ended up killing
