Quinn Whitey Wells is truly the definition of a chracter developing overtime. The novel All your Perfects', written by Colleen Hoover, apprises the reader about the characters life in a very dramatic and intricate way through the lens of a “Then” and “Now” perspective. Quinn is a perfectly imperfect character who wears her heart on her shoulder. She is portrayed as having a very narrow-minded, closed off, and depressed mentality. From start to finish Quinn is still just as narrow-minded at the end of the novel as she is at the beginning, leaning towards being a static character. She is seen as a dynamic character when you look at how her relationships have changed and grown because of the type of character she had become.

One can exist without the other”(Hoover ). The meaning of this quote said by Quinn is related to so much in the story. The most obvious one is her relationship with Graham. The love between Quinn and Graham is so strong and you can really tell they are meant for eachother. But, what isn’t there is happiness, a wedge is drawn between them and neither of them can no longer seem to be able to find happiness when around each other. Another way this quote relates to this book is between the relationship with Quinn and the idea of having a baby. She feels such a deep love for her baby that she can’t have due to her infertility. With forming such a deep love for this child it leads to her having no happiness and this affects every aspect of her life. Quinn may lose everything, as this baby has completely consumed her. Without choosing one of the relationships over the other, love and happiness may never be concordant for her. But if a person gives all of themselves in the good times, hoping the bad times never come, there might not be enough resources or energy left to withstand those category 5 moments”(Hoover ) Absent- not present in a place, at an occasion, or as part of something. That is what Quinn has been this entire marriage, absent. She may have physically been there, but emotionally and mentally she was not there, Graham has been left lonely. Quinn was there, but at the same time she hadn’t been there in so long. If Quinn had been there, mentally and emotionally, she may not have been able to withstand the category 5 moment, when Graham cheats on her. This is the real turning point in their relationship. After fighting infertility and being depressed for so long, she forgot what it was like to feel emotions. This moment brought so many emotions into Quinn, it was the real turning point for their marriage. A human being can survive almost anything, as long as they can see a light at the end of the tunnel, but Quinn was so consumed by her depression and infertility that there was no light and she saw no end, until this event brought emotions back into her life.
