Teacher tenure is not an effective policy owing to the fact that its evaluation system and how difficult it is to remove a poorly performed teacher. Teacher tenure is easily given to a teacher by working in the same district for a certain amount of years, but it takes an extent more to actually fire a teacher for not doing their job. According to the article “ Tenure: Good Or Bad?” a teacher should be someone who is dedicated and committed to teaching other person's education. “Because of tenure, unfit teachers are allowed to continue teaching for years after their expiration date has passed” (Tenure: Good or Bad”) Not everyone is fit to become a teacher, but being able to earn the teacher tenure policy is so easy and effortless, people can become teachers and receive the policy after working at the same school for multiple years. Just because one teacher’s evaluation is below average than another teacher’s evaluation, that doesn’t mean that teacher will gain tenure, they will both get tenure. The school evaluation system should be based upon student scores and how well they've improved in that class.
