THE BLACK PANTHERS CHANGED THE WAY THAT AFRICAN AMERICANS WERE SEEN BY SOCIETY BY PROTESTING AND WORKING WITHIN THE COMMUNITY

The Black Panthers changed things. Lots of people think, oh they only preached violence by protesting. The Black Panthers taught not only Black people, but all people to fight for rights. I think if the Black Panther party was still happening all this violence would come to a close. I don’t think lots of people know how much they did for people.

The Black Panthers fought for lots of things but fighting for peace and justice is pretty powerful. They protested to end police brutality.

WHO THE BLACK PANTHERS WERE
The Black Panthers were a political group that was founded in October of 1966 in Oakland, CA. According to the text “ Revolution in our time The Black Panther party’s promises to people” by Kekla Magoon “ In October 1966, Huey and Bobby made a decision. There was a lot of work to be done in Black communities, but no one was doing it effectively. We had to start a new organization”. This gives an example of how Huey and Bobby took initiative to start a group to help Black communities.

During the 1960’s there were voting laws, Jim Crow laws, Black people couldn’t really do much like Whites could. The Black Panthers started a 10 point plan, because they needed to be recognized for their needs. Below you will find a ten point plan from “ Zinn Education
