Sound of Thunder Essay In Ray Bradbury’s short story A Sound of Thunder,Bradbury takes the position of how even the smallest decision can impact the future in big ways. He gives examples of how the Butterfly Effect can impact the different aspects of your life, either environmentally or socially. In the story, Bradbury talks about how even the smallest change can affect the future even environmentally. He talks about the Butterfly Effect and how if “we accidentally kill one mouse… you annihilate first one, then a dozen, then a thousand, a million, a billion possible mice.” (Bradbury) Then he goes on to to explain that if you step on that mouse then you could not only kill the whole species of mice, it could affect the birth of the caveman, or how America may not have been founded. He is listing just a few possibilities of what problems may occur environmentally. In our environment today some problems can happen from our decisions or actions also. Deforestation is a big problem in today’s world and if we don’t do something about it can and will affect us in the future.
