Rationale The Great Gatsby is a novel written by the famous American Writer F. Scott Fitzgerald. The book set up a story in the Jazz Age, where the main character Jay Gatsby had fallen in love with Daisy before he went to war. When he returned, he chased the American dream to become wealthy, gain Daisy back and relived his past. In pursuing his dream, he lost his life. After reading the novel, I decided to write a monologue of Nick Carraway standing in front of Gatsby’s grave. Being the only true friend of Gatsby, who saw Gatsby’s downfall, I suggested that Nick must have reflected through the events especially after Gatsby’s quite funeral, which affected his future decisions.
