In the case study about the representation of architecture through photography, I will be analyzing the Stahl House in LA by Pierre Koenig. The owner of the house Buck Stahl thought of a modern glass house that is constructed with steel that could offer panoramic views of the town of Los Angeles by the time he bought the land in 1954 for the purpose of building the house there. Stahl started to find the best architect who would design the house the way he wanted and by 1957, he hired the best architect according to him who was Pierre Koenig to take officially over the designing of the residential house on his behalf. The only side or part of the building with a solid wall is the living space that is behind the swimming pool. The house is perceived to be very huge and captures the amazing entity of the building with a great view of the landscape and the city of Los Angeles. The building is old enough and was little known and also unrecognized due to its advanced design in modern residential architecture in America. In 1960 when a renowned photographer Julius Shulman captured Stahl House representing its pure and modern architectural essence. The shot that brought the building into the limelight was one of the two ladies who were seated and overlooked the colorful light of the beautiful city of Los Angeles in the buildings sitting room. Shulman is one of the best architectural photographers in the history of American modern designs of buildings. He used his photography to the representation of the modern of post-war architectural designs, and he continues to appreciate the designs created by people. Shulman work in the representation of architectural designs of modernism in America is well recognized and is commonly known to as the Case Study Houses.
