First we have a biography on Ray Bradbury, author of Fahrenheit 451, written by Nancy Martin. Bradbury was very stubborn in his beliefs. He refused to conform to the society of his time. Bradbury believe that television was driving people away from books and that it numbs the brain. Next is excerpts from the diary of Guy Montag of Fahrenheit 451. Getting close to the end we have What About Stokesie by Nancy Martin, this John Updike’s short story A&P told from the view of Stokesie. Stokesie is a side character in A&P and he seems to be friends with the main character, Sammy, but in What About Stokesie you see that he is quite different, rebels against what everyone thinks of him in A&P. Lastly we have The Raisin Cycle by Nancy Martin. The Raisin Cycle is Lorraine Hansberry’s Raisin in the Sun characters later in there lives. The story takes place in 1978 while the original play take place in 1950. In this story the younger family does not conform and rebels against gender norms when Travis marries a white woman.
