Reading is the key that open’s a world of fantasy and adventure where every child can experiment with emotions.
This two articles invites us as teachers and parents, to encourage children to reading.
The first article called “La magia de la lectura” (Oxford Education) talks about the importance of reading to children because books brings magic to their lives. Is important not only to read to children but also reading in group. First of all reading in group opens the door to other readings and in the other hand, reading individually leads children to enter in a world of freedom.
As teachers, reading provides us a world full of opportunities to do a good selection of readings that helps children imitates the teacher (gestures, tone of voice, etc.) and involve them in the story. What really matters is that children have free access to books in class so they can have moments where they can read to each other or moments where they can read alone. Also, having time to represent stories through drama, dressing up as the characters of the stories, is a great activity to encourage children to read.
