The Great Gatsby The Great Gatsby is a book based on love between a man and a woman. The story mainly focuses on love but on a higher scope it brings out America in the 1920s and how society was eroded off moral values as at that time. This love story is set in the 1920s a period of jass and decadence. Jay Gatsby, a poor army officer falls for Daisy who marries a rich man while jay is oversees. After the war Jay becomes a multi millionaire focusing on making money, throwing parties and enticing Daisy to return to his life (Fitzgerald 8). Nicky Caraway who is the cousin of Daisy is the narrator of the story in this book. Nicky is telling it through the filter of time this is confirmed by his own admission, come back from the east last autumn having been fascinated by his experiences there.
