In the book The Glass Castle Jeannette Walls goes through many hardships throughout her life. She grows up very poor and has to fight for food most of her life in order to keep herself and her siblings alive. She is a very smart girl and is able to overcome many hardships that happen in her childhood. One thing that I believe really stands out to people is her attitude. She remains fine in many situations sort of like the time when her father steals her money she made out of the piggy bank. Not many people would be able to remain calm after gathering money all that time. Jeannette dealt with many things that kids today would not be able to do. They spent weeks in the cold weather without warmth. She also had to deal with a lot of pain. She fell out of her dad's car while he was speeding around a turn. A divorce is the separation between two married people. This can be hard on not only the two people who were married, but others around them as well. When I was only in 7th grade my family went through a divorce. It was the hardest time of my life not only emotionally for me, but physically as well. I was at the age of thirteen at the time. When you are older people tend to take divorces much harder than someone who is younger. Younger kids can not always comprehend what is going on. They usually do not realize what has happened until they are much older. I was very understanding at the time on what was happening. I took it harder than any of my sisters ever did. It had affected me the most. I was constantly thinking about what I was going through. My grades began to slip away, and I did not want to play sports anymore. It was like a car had suddenly hit me out of nowhere and threw all this on me. My life was really beginning to change and I was not prepared for it at
