There are many ways an author can convey the message of any story. Elements such as the Plot, Conflict, Character/Characterization, Setting, Symbolism, Narration, and Imagery are used in these ways. For example, in the In the story "Harrison Bergeron", the author Kurt Vonnegut uses the characterization, and the conflict to communicate the message to the reader that Uniformity and strict laws lead to a loss of personal freedom and individuality. Vonnegut uses the element of characterization.
Did you know that authors use many different literary devices to tell a story? A literary device is a technique writers use to make their stories unique and interesting. Literary devices like simile, metaphor, suspense, personification, allusion, irony, foreshadowing, and imagery are used in lots of stories. In the short story ¨The Most Dangerous Game”, Richard Connell uses literary devices such as suspense and simile to help the reader gain a clear understanding of the story. In this essay, I will provide two examples of literary devices used throughout Richard Connell’s short story.
An author applies the use of tone in a story to allow the reader to better interpret the story the way in which the author intended. Tone allows the author to establish an attitude towards the story for the reader's benefit. Flannery O'Connor utilizes tone to develop the aspects of religion, betrayal, and irony in her short story “Good Country People.” Flannery O’Connor uses religion heavily in her works, especially in her short story “Good Country People.” Her use of religion is to characterize the people in her story, it is her tone that offsets the innocence that is initially presumed.

Arthur Miller in The Crucible and Fred Zinnemann in High Noon underline comparable ideas through conventional features of drama and film. A good story is comprised of function. Function is made up of several different facets. These facets include a good plot, interesting character development and content that appeals to one’s feelings. An exciting plot contains an interesting setting, rising and falling actions and sometimes even a conflict. Proper character development includes strong personality descriptors and also allows the audience to empathize with the character's various thoughts and situations.
Literary Analysis Suspense. It's what makes us sit on the edge of our seats at movies, or has us biting our nails as we read. It’s the backbone behind any classic horror film where the babysitter keeps getting unknown phone calls about checking the children and she asks the police to trace the call only to get a call back saying it's coming from upstairs.
Three of the most important aspects of any story are the point of view, characterization and plot. In the short stories “Geraldine Moore the Poet,” “The Story-Teller,” and “Enemy Territory” this statement proves to be true. With a good analysis, all of these things can be found in the stories. Additionally, the point of view, characterization and plot can relate to the theme. The point of view needs to be scrutinized throughout the whole story.

Attending a community college people can save two years of a University and get their Associates degree a more cheap way. People attend community colleges because they are more affordable, closer to home and convenient. People would rather save two years of college than pay those two years for an experience at a four year University.
Additionally, the author does not give almost any input herself; the tone of the story is neutral. So, all contributions of the theme are not derived from characterization, but instead the setting.
