Synthesis: Smells that are pungent include: onions, dirty laundry (anything dirty), garbage, Clorox (bleach or any other cleaning materials), cookies (or any other bakery sweets), and the air after it has rained. Experiences with pungent things includes: using a knife to cook, using a sword to fight with, using a scalpel during a surgery, and stepping on broken glass and/or nails. These experiences are pungent because all the materials are sharp such as the knife, the sword, a scalpel, broken glass, and nails. Aesthetics The consonants of Yeat’s poem “The Lake Isle of Innisfree” provides the mellow tone to the poem. Because of the mellow tone it seems like you are there, at the lake at Innisfree.
